The baker of Île Barbe and his legendary pink praline tart
House founded in 1991

Le boulanger de l'Île Barbe
An emblematic name in Lyon's gourmet landscape, Boulangerie Jocteur was born in the early 1990s when Philippe-Marc Jocteur, a Lyonnais at heart, set up his first bakehouse facing Île Barbe, a leafy haven set in the middle of the Saône. From this singular spot, the house took the nickname that became its signature: "the baker of Île Barbe."
It was on the advice of Paul Bocuse, a loyal companion and lifelong neighbour, that the artisan made the pink praline tart the flagship product of his shops. Ever since, the house has supplied the bread for the chef's tables and works with many restaurants across the region. This fellowship between a passionate baker and the high priest of Lyonnais gastronomy forged a reputation that reaches well beyond the banks of the Saône.
True to traditional craftsmanship, Maison Jocteur shapes breads of character, golden viennoiseries and generous pastries in which the pink praline takes the leading role. Every piece bears witness to an artisan's exacting standards and a sure sense of taste, handed down over the years.
At Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse, the Jocteur stall is the natural continuation of this story. At the heart of the gourmet market on cours Lafayette, it invites Lyonnais and passing food lovers alike to rediscover the breads, the sweet treats and, of course, the pink praline tart that made its name.
