The baker of Île Barbe, café-side at the Halles
House founded in 1991

Le boulanger de l'Île Barbe, côté café
Café Jocteur is the convivial face of Maison Jocteur, the celebrated Lyon bakery born of the passion of Philippe-Marc Jocteur, named Best Apprentice of Rhône-Alpes in 1981. In 1991 he opened his first shop opposite Île Barbe, that sliver of land set in the middle of the Saône that earned him the nickname "the baker of Île Barbe." On the advice of Paul Bocuse, whose official baker he would become, the house put down lasting roots and built a reputation that today shines far beyond Lyon.
At Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse, Café Jocteur carries this craftsmanship forward, offering, amid the bustle of the market, the experience of a café-counter where you can savour the viennoiseries, the brioches and the unmissable house praline tart. This tart, rimless and faithful to the spirit of the baker rather than the pastry chef, has become a true icon of Lyon indulgence.
The house nurtures a deep attachment to tradition while bringing its exceptional breads to life: traditional, vivarais and sesame loaves, each crafted with an artisan's exacting standards. Present at Île Barbe, in Tassin, in Lentilly and as far as Bordeaux, Maison Jocteur finds at Les Halles Paul Bocuse a showcase worthy of its history, at the heart of a temple of gastronomy.
